Diy Painting Project and TipsDiy Painting Project and Tips

There are several key things one should consider in taking a diy painting project:

Preparing the surface
Having the right painting tools with you and in the right manner
Application of paint

Preparing the surface

Preparation of the rooms and those of the intended paint surface is done. Get a cloth long enough to protect the floors completely. For a smooth painting surface complete the following steps:

Dull any shiny surface
Scrub the surface using soap and water
Apply oil-based  primer to the surface
Scrap off flaking paint
Apply an undercoat
The right tools

The following are diy specialized tools that will make painting work as easy as possible and still give you that professional finish:

Corner painter: it is usually used for painting corners that are hard- to- reach.
Rollers: they are basic for any painting project, when choosing a roller, consider; the size of the surface you intend to paint; the texture of the roller rolling surface, and the type of paint you are going to use on them. Remember the smoother the painting surface the shorter the nap.
Brushes: there are of two types; the filament brush and hog’s bristle brush. Bigger brushes with long bristle are easier to use and improve your finish.
Pad painters: they are good for interior and exterior painting surfaces. They also have the advantage of speeding up the painting process.

3. Applying paint

Tape over items you don’t want to paint such as outlets. Start by paining the edges of the wall, painting from dry to wet surfaces. If you are going to use a roller in your work then you should use the criss-cross pattern in painting. Avoid as possible rolling in parallel strokes as it will lead to uneven finish. When applying paint to high ceilings, you could opt to use an extensional pole or a ladder to help you save effort and time. After painting the ceiling, paint the walls and when you are through, remove all the painters’ tapes and cloths and leave the paint to dry.

Finally, clean your tools with the right solvent too make sure all the paint is washed off and later rinse with warm clean water. Store the tools in a store too avoid tempering.
